Maximal Oxygen Uptake of Rhythmic Sports Gymnasts and Comparison of the Exercise Intensity of Four Rhythmic Apparatus Exercises

Abstract
The purposes of this study were to measure the VO2 max of rhythmic sports gymnasts and to compare exercise intensity of R.S.G(Rhythmic Sport Gymnastics; R.S.G.) with rope, ball, clubs, ribbon. The VO2 max was measured by maximal exercise testing
using
Bruce protocol on the treadmill. The exercise intensities were measured by heart rates using POLAR heart rete checker during 4 apparatus exercises. The oxygen-uptakes during 4 apparatus exercises were calculated indirectly by regression formula
derived
from the relationship of VO2 max ad HR measured during the maximal exercise testing of each subject.
@ES The results of this study were follows;
@EN 1. The average of VO2 max and HR max of the subjects measured by Bruce protocol were 45.1ml/kg/min and 205.7 beats/min, respectively.
2. The exercise intensitise expressed by % of HR max of 4 appartus exercises were 92.4%(rope), 90.1%(ribbon), 89.4%(clubs) and 83.2(ball), respectively. The result of repeated ANOVA indicated that there was not significant difference in the heart
rate
but there was significant difference in exercising time. The analysis of a heat rate according to exercising time, which was done by Newman-keuls method showed that the heart rate for exercising apparatus was increased from th first 20 second to
50
second and it kept plateau after 50 second.
3. To measure the amount of oxygen-uptake according to he heart rate, the regression analysis was used. The average of oxygen-uptake calculated indirectly from regression formula were 36.76ml/kg/min clubs, 36,17/kg/min ribbon, 35.47ml/kg/min rope
and
32.89ml/kg/min ball.
The results of this study suggest that the psychological mental training should be considered for rhythmic sport gymnasts to overcome the uneasiness when they perform the apparatus exercise in which they do not have confidence and that anaerobic
training for 90sec with jumping activity should be emphasized in their training session.
